Secondary Glazing in an Exceptional School for Exceptional Children

A brand-new school and centre of excellence for special educational needs has opened in Chester’s historic Abbey Square, which required Selectaglaze secondary glazing for the conversion of the Grade II Listed Georgian buildings.

The original Georgian box sash windows provided little thermal insulation for the students who would be occupying the spaces, while also allowing noise pollution from passing tourists to enter the rooms and cause disruption.

Selectaglaze specified a mixture of Series 46 fixed lights, Series 20 vertical sliders, Series 60 vertical sliders to meet offset sash sightlines, and Series 90 vertical sliders, for the windows which measured over 3 metres high.

A total of 70 secondary glazing units were installed in the properties, all with 6.8mm laminate glass to improve both the thermal and noise insulation.

Head over to the Selectaglaze website for more information about secondary glazing, and to contact the team.
