Knauf Insulation Releases Updated Part L Guide for Architects and Housebuilders

The updated Part L (Conservation of fuel and power) Building Regulations for England came into full force this June and there’s a lot for the housebuilding industry to adapt to.

New homes must now produce 31% less operational carbon emissions and meet tighter fabric efficiency standards. There is also a new Building Regulations England Part L (BREL) report, requiring photo evidence of thermal continuity and quality of insulation.

To help architects and housebuilders keep up-to-speed with the changes, Knauf Insulation has launched an updated edition of its Part L Guide. The guide includes key information on Part L, example whole-house recipes for compliance*, and advice on U-value and Psi-value calculations. This edition also includes infographics on Parts B and O, and insights into upcoming regulations, like the Future Homes Standard.

Neil Hargreaves, Managing Director for Knauf Insulation Northern Europe, said “I hope this guide will be a valuable tool, not only for achieving compliance, but in raising the bar for quality and performance across the housebuilding sector.”

The guide is a recent addition to Knauf Insulation’s online Housebuilders Hub, where industry professionals can find free tools and guidance on Part L and the wider housebuilding sector. The Hub also features a U-value calculator, Psi-value calculator, product information, and a range of Q&As on energy efficiency, fire safety, and sustainability.
