Evolution and innovation from Komfort

Komfort Partitioning Limited, the UK’s market leader in the design, manufacture and installation of partitioning systems, specialist internal glazing, doors and access panels has launched the next evolution in frameless glazed partitioning systems, Polar Evolve.

A re-evaluation of the Komfort’s Polar range has been one of the first steps on the company’s innovation path and its Design & Development Team have improved, perfected and evolved the current Polar range, creating a flexible and intelligent interior solution that pushes the boundaries of what is possible in partitioning.

The development of Polar Evolve has been inspired by a requirement from designers to build aesthetically pleasing, frameless partitioning to greater heights (up to 3600mm as standard) without them becoming cumbersome as a result of having to accommodate the thicker glass needed to build those heights. Simultaneously, it offers style and practical functionality, alongside powerful performance that meets design and technical challenges and complies with all relevant standards.

Polar Evolve has been structurally and acoustically tested and certified at the British Gypsum Test Centre. The range consists of a unique set of extrusions that adapt to accommodate various glass thicknesses – from 10 to 19mm - through the use of interchangeable gaskets.

Komfort’s unique room function indicator provides an innovative and stylish solution to Building Regulations Approved Document M requirements. It is a sliding insert which is able to square the doorframe and add contrast visibility with its different finish, if required. It can also become the acrylic white/coloured frosted cover for a LED light. This can give a linear coloured/lit border in order to comply with Building Regulations Approved Document M for impaired vision. This component can also be used by designers to indicate a room function by colour and offer corridor side luminance.

Thanks to a rigorous structural performance testing program, Polar Evolve can be built higher - up to 3600mm - and, subject to specified design load, comply with BS:6180:2011 (BS Standard - Barriers in and about buildings). In a guarding location, the use of interchangeable gaskets allows designers to specify the correct glass type and thickness dependent on the height, design loads and use of space.

The innovative solutions continue through to the glazed to solid junctions that allow for the product to suit industry common wall thicknesses. Head, base and wall abutments are aesthetically identical whilst simultaneously facilitating difficult build sequences.

New three way posts allow single glazed to single glazed, single glazed to double glazed and double glazed to double glazed combinations. The new single and double glazed doorframes will have the same footprint, so there is continuity in a run that mixes single and double glazed partitioning. A new tape and jointed solution for the head of the partitioning has been developed to suit MF ceilings - this is ideal for an MF perimeter/ceiling features.

All Komfort systems are designed to deliver sustainable performance.
