Brush up on the latest developments with Crown Paints CPD package

As a trusted partner for the specification sector Crown Paints offers a range of services to support and inform property and architectural professionals.

Included in the suite of services are a series of CPD (Continuous Professional Development) modules, developed to offer a broad brush overview across a range of subjects including safety, the environment, colour and aesthetics.

The most recent CPD module in the series focuses extensively on sustainability and builds upon the UK paint manufacturer’s expertise in this area, as reflected in its award-winning Earthbalance® programme.

Entitled ‘Different shades of green – delivering paint sustainability,’ the presentation pays particular focus to paint and coatings and looks at issues including BREEAM, issues with standardisation, products helping to extend maintenance cycles, carbon foot printing, the integrated approach to sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

Other CPD modules include ‘Burning issues – the hazard of painted walls and ceilings,’ which broadens participants’ knowledge on the safety attributes of flame retardant coatings, as well as ‘Effective paint specification’ which explores the properties of paint and the different types of coatings and systems.

Crown Paints is also recognised as industry experts in colour and the CPD programme reflects this position, with two CPD modules offered on the subject.

The first, ‘The Role Of Colour In Buildings’ covers colour psychology and the role it plays in creating atmosphere, effecting lighting and altering perceptions of dimensions and temperature. This CPD module is produced in a training video format and also provides guidance on creating and specifying colour schemes, as well as compliance with the Equality Act.

The other colour-focused CPD module, entitled ‘Colour In Education,’ explains how shade can be used to best effect within an educational environment. This CPD module addresses topics similar to the other colour programme, but explores them in a seminar format and within the context of the educational sector.

Usman Akhtar, Crown Paints’ Specification Sector Support Manager, said: “Our accredited training programme has been developed to provide specifiers with a broad range of information in an engaging format.

“It’s part of a complete service from Specification Services that is designed to support our professional clients through initiatives including Sustainable Smart Maintenance, safety and fire legislation, site specific programmes, colour schemes and BIM.”
