Yewdale to Launch New Wellbeing CPD at Education Estates Exhibition

Yewdale, the leading commercial shading and privacy solutions specialist, will be launching their new CPD ‘Specifying Shading to Enhance Wellbeing’ at the Education Estates exhibition on the 12th and 13th October 2021 at Manchester Central. The new CPD supports Education Estates’ aim to transform learning spaces into adaptable and inspiring environments.

The CPD seminar delivered by Yewdale includes three main consideration points when exploring the connection between ‘shading’ and ‘wellbeing’: Daylight, investigating how exposure to daylight impacts wellbeing and how shading can provide comfort concerning daylight; Views, understanding the importance of looking out of a window, and how shading can help retain a view whilst creating visual comfort and finally; Façade, looking at the outside of the building and how the right shading can enhance build design and external surroundings.

These considerations are important for the education sector. Architects, specifiers and designers need to specify products that will enhance the learning environment and inspire students. A case study in the CPD highlights how important shading is in the learning environment to enhance the physical and mental wellbeing of pupils which, in turn, improves their productivity. It also explains how important each part of the system itself is for the environment it is installed into for example using a child-safe operating system within a school and choosing a fabric that allows natural light but not too much glare.

Kevin Goldsmith, Will+Partners architects was one of the first attendees, commenting, "[The CPD] was very comprehensive and provided us a good insight to [Yewdale’s] products and the importance of them and specifying the right type. The specification tips was also very helpful and will make us more aware in the future".

From operation, safety measures, light transmittance, OXEO TEX accreditations through to flame retardant and anti-microbial fabrics, Yewdale can advise on and, provide quality shading solutions, perfect for learning environments.
