March 2014 issue

Despite the extreme floods that caused major devastation across the country earlier this year, it seems sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) are still not being prioritised as the Government has announced yet more delays in implementing SuDS for new projects. What’s more, it seems that impermeable paving is now causing severe problems with downstream flooding.

In this month’s issue, we unveil a striking project that has been designed and specified to combat water ingress. This details an outstanding extension to The Städel Museum in Frankfurt. Below ground, a self-contained exhibition space is lit with a striking array of skylights. Above ground, the grid formation of skylights provides an outstanding landscaping feature and a perfect complement to the main building. Here, Kemper System reveals how it achieved a complete water-tight solution. Turn to page 6 to find out more.

Also in this edition, we’ve integrated FC&A’s exclusive show guide for Ecobuild. From page 38, you will find a selection of exhibitor profiles highlighting their recent and most established offerings. Our handpicked selection includes Flowcrete, which will unveil its ground-breaking flooring system. Set to take centre stage, GREEN Floorzone is a single warranty floor build-up programme featuring a number of sustainable options. Elsewhere, Dura Composites looks at the growing demand for composite products, namely decking. Turn to page 44 to see why this solution provider should be on your show itinerary. We also round up previews from renowned suppliers such as Timberplay, Bosch, Pegler Yorkshire and CANAL Architectural.
