AET Flexible Space have just completed a major upgrade of the underfloor air conditioning system at a historic building located in the Clerkenwell area of London, The Bond Works building at 77-79 Farringdon Road. The building was originally constructed in 1882 as the London premises of Lincolnshire based engineering firm, Marshall & Sons, and previously underwent a full redevelopment in 2007 by a group of private investors.

A complex and time constrained redevelopment contract in central London is making extensive use of ‘LowBoard22’ underfloor heating panels, as well as other products from the OMNIE range, to offer optimum comfort and flexibility of living space for its future residents. The site in Hermes Street, a short walk from the Angel Tube Station, is being developed by MY Construction & Carpentry Ltd. being the main contractor for the project. The work has seen an existing property demolished, being replaced by a five storey structure with office accommodation at ground and first floor level while the upper storeys are being fitted out to create half a dozen dwellings.

Stewarts Lane railway depot in Battersea has been providing maintenance and stabling for the South East of England’s rolling stock since 1862 and was, at one point, the largest locomotive capacity in the Southern region. The facility has provided a service to London and its southern arterial rail system through two world wars, the steam days, nationalisation, electrification and privatisation. Having stabled the Royal Train, one of the depots main uses today is for the maintenance of the prestigious Orient Express.

AET UK have worked closely with Romanian distributor, Convergo Energy on the first underfloor air conditioning installation in the country, and the high profile project will create first class, grade-A office space for the owner-occupier.

More and more home owners are choosing to install underfloor heating systems in recent years. Their popularity has surged as they provide a cost-effective, comfortable, unobtrusive heating solution for millions of homes. However, if underfloor heating systems are installed and there is no adequate movement protection for the tiled surface, then the expansions and contractions caused by the heating systems will almost certainly result in cracked tiling surfaces.

AET Flexible Space has recently completed the supply and commissioning of underfloor air conditioning equipment at 20 Soho Square in London’s West End. The 6000 m2 neo-classical building has a stunning Portland stone façade; the most prominent in Soho Square and the iconic colonnade extends across the ground and first floors. AET has supplied a total of twenty five CAM-C (DX) downflow units along with associated Daikin heat pumps and around 360 TU4-EC fan terminals; with the underfloor system installed throughout most of the building’s seven floors.
